Everybody can be GREAT because anybody can SERVE” Martin Luther King, JR

Patients make a difference by volunteering in the community

Donors make a difference by supporting the NS Hearing Foundation

The circle of giving is a hand up, not a hand out.  We ask people and their families to volunteer within their community as a way of giving back to all the volunteer organizations who support us and other non-profits in our community.  It is not enough just to fit a hearing aid and show someone how to use it. We reconnect people to the relationships and community connections so necessary for participating fully in life.

If you have never volunteered before, no worries!  Everyone has a skill, whether it is knitting hats for newborn babies or soldiers abroad, stocking food pantry shelves, singing to residents at local nursing homes, helping at the library book fair, delivering holiday treats to local shut ins…. the list is endless!  Volunteer hours can be completed by the patient’s family or friends if they are unable to do so themselves.

The first step is to have a hearing evaluation and to complete the NSHF financial application. Once qualified  we will ask you co commit to the volunteer hours, completing half before you receive the hearing aids and half once you get them.
